
All of the PC workstations run Windows NT 4.0. Software packages for simulation, computational fluid dynamics, statistical analysis, mathematical analysis, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and language compilers are available on all workstations. All workstations are linked via switched 100Base-T to the departmental network. The departmental network is attached to the TAMU Campus Network making campus and internet resources available.
All CHEN graduate students or any student taking CHEN graduate courses are eligible for an account on the Chemical Engineering Server. CHEN graduate students are granted access to the computers in the Chemical Engineering Graduate Computer Lab. Each user is allocated 50 MB of space for user and E-mail files. The Graduate Computer Lab is open 24 hours a day, 7 days week.
Unix accounts are also available for those graduate students who need to use these systems. C and Fortran compilers are available as well as the Aspen Simulation package and the Fluent cfd software. The department has three DEC systems running DEC UNIX and one Sun UltraSparc system that are accessible by Telnet or X-Windows.

A new Departmental server has been installed. It is running NetWare 5.1 on a Dual Pentium Xenon 450MHz system with 90 gigabytes of Raid 5 storage, 1,512 MB RAM and a Gigabit connection to the Chemical Engineering Network.
